Flint Extra

Flint® Extra is a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide with long-lasting control and preventative protection against important diseases in grapes, pome fruit and stone fruits. It works by inhibiting spore germination and mycelial growth, and provides extended preventive protection by protecting the leaf surface, penetrating plant tissue and redistributing through vapor action. A recent sampling program of scab-infected apple leaves from orchards across Ontario has revealed the presence of QoI-resistant apple scab. Bayer is advising apple growers in Ontario not to use Flint Extra for control of apple scab. Apple growers outside of Ontario should tank mix Flint Extra with a compatible registered contact fungicide (EBDC) to provide two modes of action to control apple scab.

Proven Efficacy: Provides proven broad-spectrum control of key diseases in a variety of crops

Excellent Compatibility: Good crop safety history and mix compatibility with other products, making it an excellent fit for many Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs

Easy to Use: Low use rates in an easy-to-use liquid SC formulation

The active ingredient in Flint Extra rapidly penetrates the waxy layer of the plant tissues and redistributes on the plant surface, providing locked-in protection against disease, even within hard-to-penetrate plant canopies.

The fungicide stops both early and developing fungal diseases by preventing initial infection as well as secondary spread of diseases. This makes Flint Extra a valuable tool in your disease management program.

    Footnotes
    • *Do not apply to Concord grapes
    • **Flint Extra is not recommended for control of apple scab in Ontario. Outside Ontario, tank mix Flint Extra with a compatible registered contact fungicide (EBDC).
    • ***Suppression only

Thorough coverage is necessary to provide good disease control.
Applications using sufficient water volume to provide thorough and uniform coverage generally provide the most effective disease control. For ground application equipment, a minimum of 500 L/ha is recommended for tree crops and grapes, and 100 L/ha for other crops.
Ground application only (field sprayer or airblast). Do not apply by air.

Treated areas may be replanted immediately following harvest with any crop listed on this label, in addition to wheat, fruiting vegetables and cucurbits. For crops not listed on this label do not plant back within 30 days of last application.

Store in a cool, dry, place away from food, drinks, and animal feeding stuffs. Keep in the original container tightly closed.

For resistance management, please note that Flint Extra contains a Group 11 fungicide. Any fungal population may contain individuals naturally resistant to Flint Extra and other Group 11 fungicides.
    To delay fungicide resistance:
Where possible, rotate the use of Flint Extra or other Group 11 fungicides with different groups that control the same pathogens
Avoid application of consecutive sprays of Flint Extra or other fungicides in the same group in a season. Refer to use directions for the maximum number of sequential applications of Flint Extra or other Group 11 fungicides allowed before alternating to a non-strobilurin fungicide.
Do not exceed the total number of applications of Flint Extra per season as indicated
Fungicide use should be based on an IPM program that includes scouting, historical information related to pesticide use and cover crop and considers cultural, biological and other chemical control practices
If disease continues to progress after treatment with this product, do not increase the use rate. Discontinue use of this product, and switch to another fungicide with a different target site of action, if available.
Contact your local extension specialist or certified turf or crop advisors for any additional pesticide resistance management or IPM recommendations for specific pathogens
For further information or to report suspected resistance, contact a Bayer CropScience representative at 1-888-283-6847 or at www.bayercropscience.ca
