With the average tuition fees now exceeding $6,300, many of Canada’s youth simply can’t afford to take on the financial challenges that come with four or more years of post-secondary schooling.

Bayer is proud to offer the Bayer CropScience Inc. Scholarship for Future Leaders in Agriculture which recognizes students who have demonstrated leadership and contribution in the field of agriculture, to help reduce the financial burden that students face.

Since 2014, Bayer has been providing $25,000 in annual academic scholarships to students attending five leading agricultural institutions in Canada. This year, one student from each school will receive a $5,000 scholarship.

“We’re extremely proud to be able to support Canadian students who are interested in studying agriculture with the assistance of our Future Leaders in Agriculture Scholarship,” says Paul Thiel, Vice-President, Product Development & Regulatory Science. “We recognize the financial challenges that come with attending university, and want to ensure that Canada’s future leaders of tomorrow, particularly in agriculture, are provided the opportunity to pursue a post-secondary education.”

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be registered in an agricultural program of study at one of the following universities in the upcoming academic year:

The University of Alberta;
The University of Guelph;
The University of Lethbridge;
The University of Manitoba;
The University of Saskatchewan.

Those interested in applying for a scholarship must register and create a profile with Scholarship Partners Canada, a division of Universities Canada.

The deadline for scholarship applications is May 15, 2017.
